A Horror Story For Halloween
they made me watch question time
on a loop
forever
and every time i screamed
they added another episode
on another screen
until i faced a wall of it
wider than the horizon
brighter than any sky
any sun
any laser fired directly through the eye
and into the brain
and every time i wept
they turned the sound up
and up
and up
until the entire world throbbed
with ignorance
and hate
from which i could not escape

Notes: I found a bucket (well, an ice cream tub) filled with old badges in the loft recently, filled with half forgotten relics of an earlier and more innocent time (the 80s/early 90s). And, well, here they are. There’s a 107 of them (and there were even more in the tub, when you include duplicates, of which three were lots. I think we had about 15 Allders ones, and even more from the Southend Airshow.
