The Thirty Sixth Dream Of The Waiting Prince

This morning my Lord spoke to me of his dream of the night before. And he said to me, “My dear scribe, last night as I slept, I dreamt. And this dream was as dark as the air of the Final Tomb, for in it I stood upon the Plains Of The Lifeless Sea, and tried to count for myself the stars in the sky, so as to enumerate the extent of my Empire to come. Yet each time I pointed to a star, it disappeared before my gaze, as did the next, and the next, and the next, until the sky itself was as empty as my heart. And even then it did not stop, for next the planets faded, and then the moons, and the ships in the sky, and the fires of my camp, and the glints in our eyes, until there were no points of light above nor any below.”
