The Ninety Fourth Dream Of The Waiting Prince

This morning I told my Lord of my most recent dream. And to him I said, “My dear Lord, last night as you slept, I dreamt. And in this dream, I crouched beside a river, washing clothes in its waters. And as I washed these clothes, I heard behind me a whisper. And as I washed these clothes, I heard behind me a cry. And as I washed these clothes, I heard behind me a call. And as I washed these clothes, I heard behind me a shout. And as I washed these clothes, I felt fists strike down upon my back. And as I washed these clothes, I felt the blades pierce my heart. And as I washed these clothes, I felt the blows beat against my soul. Yet still I washed the clothes, for the stains remained upon the fabric. And I wash them still, though long since did the stains fade away. And I wash them still, though long since did I wake. And I wash them still, though long since is it I had any need for them.”
