The Thirty Fifth Dream Of The Waiting Prince

Now this morning my Lord told me of his dream of the night before. And he said to me, “My dear scribe, last night as I slept, I dreamt. And in this dream I studied the patterns the waves had left upon the sand. And I studied the patterns the sand had scoured in the rocks. And I studied the patterns the rocks had gouged within the earth. And I studied the patterns the earth had made as it flowed through the valleys. And I studied the patterns the valleys made as they channelled the rain into rivers. And I studied the patterns the rivers made as they snaked across the plains. And I studied the patterns the plains made as they were divided up into farms. And I studied the patterns the farmers made as they planted their crops. And I studied the patterns the crops formed as they were harvested by the machinery of men. And I studied the patterns the machinery of men made as they transported their cargo across the world. And all of these patterns looked to me like the patterns made by the growths of mould, as it spreads across the stone surfaces of the ruins of our past.”
