Yoghurt<\/strong><\/p>\n

I bought a posher yoghurt than usual
\nbecause it was on offer
\nand therefore cheaper
\nthan the yoghurts
\nthat aren’t as posh
\nthat I usually buy<\/p>\n

It was one of those
\nwhere the yoghurt is on top
\nand the fruit beneath
\nunmixed
\nin a geological layer
\nat the bottom of the tub<\/p>\n

When I got round to eating it
\nI ate from the top
\ndown
\nforgetting to mix it up
\nor whatever it is
\nyou’re supposed to do<\/p>\n

So at the bottom
\nI was left with
\na centimetre or so
\nof thin blueberry jam
\nwhich wasn’t very nice
\nwhen eaten on its own<\/p>\n

Knee<\/strong><\/p>\n

My knee aches
\noccasionally
\nand I dream of it snapping
\nsuddenly
\nwhen I’m out for a walk
\nor climbing up the stairs
\nin the bookshop<\/p>\n

and the spectacle I’d make
\nscreaming in the park
\nor tumbling backwards
\nonto a table
\npiled high
\nwith paperbacks
\nthat I’ve no interest
\nin reading<\/p>\n

The last page of the notebooks I keep in my pocket wherever I go<\/strong><\/p>\n

This last page is usually filled
\nwith the names of books
\nthat I’ve seen round the shops
\nand thought that look interesting
\nthat I can’t afford to buy<\/p>\n

But it’s empty this time
\nbecause I’ve not been to the shops
\nsince before this notebook began<\/p>\n

1. I wrote these on July 21st, 2018<\/em>
\n2. I had just been reading a book by Tim Key<\/a><\/em>
\n3. And was overcome by the urge to poem<\/em>
\n4. Or whatever the term is<\/em>
\n5. Unfortunately the results were a bit of a disappointment<\/em>
\n6. Also there was a fourth poem<\/em>
\n7. It was called Piss<\/strong><\/em>
\n8. And went:<\/p>\n

Piss
\nThat’s what I said
\nBecause
\nThat’s what I thought
\nPiss<\/em><\/p>\n

9. But it was too poor to include here<\/em>
\n10. So I left it in the notebook<\/em><\/p>\n__________<\/br>
