Daniel <\/strong>(reading from notes<\/em>): The book I chose for us to talk about is Hansel and Gretel. I like Hansel and Gretel because sometimes I wish our house was made out of cake and we could eat it. But we can\u2019t. What do YOU think about Hansel and Gretel?<\/p>\n

Claire:<\/strong> I think Hansel and Gretel are useless<\/em>. Everything they do is stupid. They get lost in the woods. Twice! And then when they get locked up they don\u2019t even think about eating their way out. Idiots. They deserved to be eaten.<\/p>\n

Ethel:<\/strong> They didn\u2019t get eaten. The witch got eaten. Hansel and Gretel baked her in the oven and the crows ate her.<\/p>\n

Claire: <\/strong>That never happened.<\/p>\n

Ethel:<\/strong> It did! But not in the book. It happened in my head<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Claire:<\/strong> Well that doesn\u2019t count. Anything can happen in your head. That\u2019s cheating.<\/p>\n

Ethel:<\/strong> It is not cheating.<\/p>\n

Claire:<\/strong> It is! Why did you even make us read this book if you were just going to imagine<\/em> things?<\/p>\n

Ethel:<\/strong> Anna goes to a book club.<\/p>\n

Claire:<\/strong> That\u2019s not an answer!<\/p>\n

Ethel:<\/strong> I thought this would be fun<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Claire:<\/strong> Well, it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n

Claire sits down on the chair. The cat runs away. The Sunday Afternoon Book Club is soon after abandoned.<\/em><\/p>\n
