At the bottom of the slide was a darkness so complete Claire knew she was in hell. Hell was probably pretty dark and also it was underground. There was no other explanation at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m dead,\u201d Claire said. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to tell the others. They better hurry up and get down here!\u201d<\/p>\n

She waited and waited but the didn\u2019t arrive. She was furious.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere are they?!\u201d Claire said. \u201c What a bunch of scaredy cats! I knew they were frightened! Well, now I\u2019m dead, I\u2019m going to and haunt them all. Forever! Then we\u2019ll see how scared they are!\u201d<\/p>\n

The idea of haunting her siblings filled her with so much glee she did some cartwheels in the dark. She wasn\u2019t worried at all about falling over or crashing into something because she was dead and being dead meant you couldn\u2019t hurt yourself at all. And even if you could, you couldn\u2019t die. Not again.<\/p>\n

Being dead was brilliant.<\/p>\n
