I like
\nthe transformative properties
\nof snow<\/p>\n

the way
\nit obliterates
\nthe boundary lines
\nwe\u2019ve laid down<\/p>\n

road and pavement
\npath to garden
\nfield from wood<\/p>\n

and the way
\nit allows me to imagine
\n(in the hour or two before it melts
\nbeneath the afternoon sun)
\na world more open
\nthan our own<\/p>\n

\n2.<\/strong><\/p>\n

All that is left now
\nis the absence of it<\/p>\n

the outline
\nof where it once stood<\/p>\n

the memory
\nof what it once was<\/p>\n

the last few mounds of rubble
\nthat no one\u2019s found the time
\nto sweep away<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These waves have been crashing
\non indistinguishable shores
\nfor a billion years
\nand will
\nfor four billion more<\/p>\n
