We walked the aisles

\nnever stopping
\nto worry
\nwhether we could afford it
\nor needed it
\nor even really wanted it<\/p>\n
The tills were so far away
\nwe just piled it all up high
\nwith an abandoned exuberance
\nin the baskets hanging from our arms
\nand the trolleys
\nwhich snaked ahead of us
\nlike a cargo train<\/p>\n
It was comforting
\nsomehow
\ntoo
\nso alongside the excitement
\nand the glee
\nhere was a feeling
\nof strange contentment
\nas we walked onward
\nthrough this labyrinth
\nwe never wanted to escape
\nlost
\nin this dream
\nfrom which
\nwe feared to wake<\/p>\n
